The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of interconnected global objectives aimed at addressing various social, economic, and environmental challenges to create a more sustainable and equitable world.
Officially adopted by all 193 United Nations member states in 2015, they are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The goals are interconnected, addressing the complex and interrelated nature of global challenges. Progress in one area often depends on progress in others.
The Sustainable Development Goals call for international cooperation and partnerships between governments, civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders to achieve the goals. Countries are encouraged to track their progress toward the SDGs and report on their efforts to the UN, promoting accountability and transparency.
This is the closest model we have in 2023, for a shared vision of a better world, with a roadmap for global action.
